The Saints Prayer from Matthew 6:9-13

Sunday

“Our Father” - which speaks of Relationship

Holy Spirit, enable us to recognize that Jesus introduces us to a new relational status, that of being included in the Family of God as Sons and Daughters. There is no longer a “sin” separation—that has been closed by the blood of Christ Jesus.

(John 15:15, Acts 13:33b)

Monday

“Which are in Heaven” - which speaks of Residence

Lord, help us to realize that in our Son-ship, we have received a new home base, in a place outside of the threats and consequences of this everyday life.

(John 14:2-3)

Tuesday

“Hallowed be your Name” - which speaks of Reverence

Father, help us to always be mindful that you are always self-defining. We are always to look to your Word to reveal to us who you are, and are always to revere and honor your name by living in submission to your Holy Scriptures.

(Deuteronomy 5:11, Psalm 46:11)

Wednesday

“Thy Kingdom Come” - which speaks of Rule

Lord God, help us to be ever mindful that you alone created, sustain, and direct the affairs of all the realms of existence, be they natural or spiritual, seen or unseen. Therefore, we do not fear what man can do to us.

(Psalm 18:46-48, Isaiah 9:7)

Thursday

“Thy Will Be done on Earth as it is in Heaven” - which speaks of His Realms of Authority

Blessed Father, help us to be instruments in your hand that work with you to bring all of your created order into conformity with your predetermined will. Work your will in our lives (redeemed) as the show-and-tell for the nations.

(Psalm 72:17-19, Deuteronomy 32:29)

Friday

“Give us this Day our Daily Bread” - which speaks of Reliance

Father, encourage us to always and only look to you for all of our daily needs and desires. Keep us freshly convinced that your hands will not withhold from us anything which will enable us to fulfill you creative purposes for our individual and corporate lives.

(Matthew 6:25-26, Psalm 84:11-12)

Saturday

“Forgive us our Trespasses as we Forgive Those Who Trespass Against us” - which speaks of Relief from our sin

Lord God, thank you for the assurance that you will not hold against us any of our confessed sin and short-comings, because you have made provision for us to live forgiven. Help us to be mindful to pass along that same life-altering grace to others, that they too would know the reality of your presence.

(James 5:16, Matthew 18-21-22)
